Settlers Park Retirement Village, friendship and beauty managed and maintained by a caring, security, is a haven of peace, situated in Port Alfred, compassionate and capable team under the auspices of the Settlers Park Association.

Located about half way between Port Elizabeth and East London, Port Alfred is a bustling little town which boasts a long history, great climate, beautiful beaches and waterways and has an exciting variety of game reserves surrounding the town. Bowls, golf and tennis are popular and well supported sports in the area. This Village Inn is a new accommodation facility available in the Retirement Village based on a boarding-house concept. The Village Inn is made up of four cottages which have been combined to provide 7 suites during the first phase and a total of 11 when complete. Each suite is made up of a bedroom, ensuite and private patio or courtyard. A shared lounge, dining room and kitchen is used by occupants. The Village Inn has a housekeeper who takes care of all cleaning and laundry. The catering company which services the Hibiscus Room Restaurant, Fedics, also provides all meals. The Village Inn therefore provides an accommodation facility that takes care of all your needs for you for a reasonable monthly fee. With over 30 rooms, round the clock nursing care is provided, tasty and nutritious meals are served, laundry and housekeeping services are provided. The Village Clinic, named after the current manager of the Care Centre who was the driving force behind this facility, provides our Residents with the dedicated services of a Welfare Manager (social worker) and a Village Sister (registered nurse). These two dedicated staff assist Village Residents with a large variety of services regarding their social, mental, physical and emotional to enable them to have a better quality of life. The Trading Post is a little store with a farmstall feel, where our Residents can purchase certain essentials, fresh produce, homemade products and crafts and gifts. The Don Powis Community Hall is used by the Residents for meetings, entertainment and activities. A well equipped kitchen is attached for catering purposes and the hall boasts a ceiling mounted projector, large screen, stage and podium as well as an excellent sound system. This very well utilised facility has over 5,800 books and audio books, an excellent selection of over 1,000 DVD’s and a variety of puzzles which can be taken out. In addition to the facilities available, a variety of other services are provided to the Residents. This is a facility run by Residents, which provides home cooked dinners and a bar service two evenings per week. These two facilities are managed by the Settlers Park Association Trust, an independent entity that has Settlers Park Association as its sole beneficiary. Funds generated are used to assist existing Residents, who have been through a screening process, with medical and nutritional needs. The Trust Shop is a second hand goods store and the Trust Cottages provide accommodation, primarily to family members of Residents in the Park who are visiting the area and then to other persons for holiday accommodation. Both of these important services are wonderfully run by volunteer Residents.
